Vanderbilt Hillel welcomed two new Israeli fellows, Peleg Tshagr and Liron Toledano, to its staff in August.

Through the Israel Fellows program, administered by the Jewish Agency for Israel, the two will help strengthen students' connections to Israel while building relationships and supporting Jewish life on Vanderbilt University's campus.

Peleg brings a background in marketing, advertising, and community engagement. She earned a bachelor's degree in advertising and marketing communications before completing a Master of Business Administration degree focused on entrepreneurship, strategy, and innovation.

Before moving to Nashville, Peleg developed marketing campaigns, community programs and events designed to bring people together. At Vanderbilt Hillel, she will work with students from a variety of backgrounds to help them build connections and find community on campus. She also plans to share aspects of Israeli culture through food, music, traditions and personal experiences.

Liron was born and raised in Kiryat Yam, a coastal city on Israel's Mediterranean coast. She earned a bachelor's degree in English language and literature from Gordon Academic College of Education and spent the past two years teaching English to middle and high school students in Kiryat Yam and Akko.

Liron brings experience in education, mentorship, and relationship-building to her role. She said she looks forward to supporting Vanderbilt students as they explore their Jewish identities, engage with Israeli culture and build friendships. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, traveling, hiking, staying active, and listening to music.

"We are so excited for both Peleg and Liron to start their roles on campus. We truly value all they bring to our Hillel and students. We know they will play a pivotal role in continuing to build Vanderbilt's Jewish community and can't wait to introduce them to our community,” said Ari Dubin, executive director of Vanderbilt Hillel.

Throughout the year, the fellows will help lead educational programs, cultural events, holiday celebrations, and informal gatherings focused on conversation, learning and community.

Members of the Nashville Jewish community will have opportunities to meet Peleg and Liron throughout the year at Vanderbilt Hillel programs and community events.
