This month, the Rev. Charlie Curb Center at Belmont University is the proud sponsor of Faith250, a “national program inviting faith communities to gather around America's sacred texts — listening to one another, clarifying shared civic values and celebrating our hopes for the nation."
In conjunction with these discussions, Nashville’s Holocaust Memorial is offering guided tours exploring how these values were expressed (or suppressed) during World War II, in both America and Europe.
Each of the four Tuesday evening dinner and discussion events is hosted by a different faith congregation and explores a different text. Each session begins at 6 p.m. with a light meal, followed by a brief presentation and guided discussion, ending around 7:30 p.m.
Faith250 dates, host congregations, and texts are:
August 4 - West End United Methodist, Declaration of Independence by Thomas Jefferson
August 11 - Congregation Micah, What to the Slave is the Fourth of July? by Frederick Douglass
August 18 - Brook Hollow Baptist Church, The Gettysburg Address by Abraham Lincoln
August 25 - The Temple Ohabi Shalom, The New Colossus by Emma Lazarus
There is no cost to attend, but separate registration for each session is required. Register here: Faith250.
