The Nashville Jewish Academy (NJA) announces the appointment of Michal Stern as its founding principal, as the school prepares to open its doors this fall with inaugural kindergarten and first grade classes.
Stern brings a rare blend of experience, warmth, and educational vision to NJA. She holds a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from California State University, Northridge, a master’s degree from Pepperdine University, and teaching credentials in both California and Tennessee. With over a decade of experience in education, her background spans special education, Title I programs, and both private and public school settings.
Michal moved to Nashville three years ago, from Los Angeles, and has quickly made it her home.
“It means a great deal to now be in a position to give back and be part of its growth,” she said. “I am honored to serve as principal of Nashville Jewish Academy and feel deeply passionate about creating an inclusive and nurturing educational environment that celebrates Jewish values integrated with the highest academic standards.”
As founding principal, Michal is focused on building more than just a school. Her vision is to create a place where students are challenged academically while developing a strong connection to their Jewish identity and community.
“Nashville Jewish Academy represents an investment in the future of Jewish life in Nashville,” said Rabbi Yitzchok Tiechtel, founder and Dean of the Academy.
