Condolences to the family of Sally Wolkoff, 104, who died on December 12 A Holocaust survivor, Sally lived a remarkable life marked by resilience, strength, and an enduring legacy. She was the beloved wife of the late Henry Wolkoff (z”l).
Sally worked side by side with Henry to create their beautiful jewelry store Wolk Jewelers in Belle Meade Plaza. It was an elegant store where customers knew they would be welcomed and treated well and fairly. The community embraced these hardworking immigrants and grew to love and respect them. Sally, as elegant as her surroundings, could often be seen patiently stringing glistening pearls in the back of the store which she did with care. Stringing and knotting while managing the books and attending to customers with humor and grace. Sally always looked beautiful, dressed to the nines, and made Henry very proud to call her his wife.
All who knew Sally admired her unparalleled strength and dignity despite how tested she was in her life. She was an example of what a person can achieve and overcome through hard work and determination. Sally was, and always will be, an inspiration to all who knew her and will be missed by so many.
She is survived by her daughters, Debie Sontag (Danny) and Ruthie Hungerford (John); her grandchildren, Stephanie Sweeney (Doug), Michael Sontag (Caroline), and Julia Hungerford; and her extended family, including the Olsky family, the Speyer family, the Abram family, the Serkin family, and the Feder Family.
Tributes in Sally's memory may be made to Congregation Micah.
